How the “Big Beautiful Bill” will affect trucking.
1) the bill would create a new public website to display a motor carrier’s fitness to operate in interstate commerce – information the U.S. Department of Transportation already posts publicly. This system would be funded by a new $100 annual fee on anyone accessing the information, including small business truckers.
2) the bill makes permanent the elimination of the per diem deduction that benefitted many employee drivers who make their living on the road.
3) it does not fix the exemption for overtime that is specifically denied for truckers.
Sadly, the did this and other cruel things. My nephew became a trucker after the pandemic. The Big Ugly Bill will hurt and cost the lives of so many and Trump and Republicans do care. 😡
